Thailand — Trade the cold for warm water and better light. Base yourself around Railay Beach or Koh Samui, take a longtail boat out to the hidden lagoons, and build in a barefoot New Year’s Eve dinner on the sand. A day trip out to the Phi Phi Islands is worth the early wake-up.

Vienna — Christmas markets, mulled wine, that old-world glow. Wander the Wiener Christkindlmarkt in front of City Hall, sip Gluhwein under the chandeliers on Graben, and catch the tree lighting at Schonbrunn Palace. Stay at Hotel Sacher and don’t skip the original Sachertorte.

Whistler — A little more low-key than the classic ski towns, still just as beautiful. Ride the Peak 2 Peak gondola between Whistler and Blackcomb for the views alone, book a ski-in/ski-out chalet in Upper Village, and let everyone find their own pace between the beginner runs and the back bowls.

Courchevel — For when you want the Alps to look exactly like you’re picturing them right now. Fresh powder, Michelin-starred lunches at altitude, and chalets with private chefs and a view of Mont Blanc. This is the pick for a group that wants five-star, on and off the mountain.

Atacama Desert, Chile — Not your typical holiday pick, but stars, silence, and nowhere else like it. Some of the clearest night skies on earth for stargazing, sunrise at the El Tatio geysers, and an afternoon floating in the salt flats. A completely different kind of holiday: quiet, otherworldly, and unforgettable.
